ABOVE: THE NEW COSMIC DUST - Left to right: Dave Turner (bass), Charlie Doggett (drums), Jim Templeton, (keyboards & composer), Chris Mosley (guitar), and John Nastos (sax),

Having moved to Vancouver in November of 2005, I left behind "Cosmic Dust," the band I formed (together with Gary Edighoffer) years ago in Spokane. (See the CD, "Journey" above.) Years later, I decided to recreate the band in the Portland area. After only 3 rehearsals, and no gigs, we went into the "Magic Closet Studio," February 3. It was an intense 8-hour day in the "Magic Closet" studio, segments of which you can hear by clicking at the left.

Our DEBUT: Jimmy Mak's, April 18, as starting band (8PM) on the KPSU "Jazzstravganza."

This music is different: some of it as close to classical as to jazz: a new sort of "fusion." As you listen to the tunes, I hope your imagination creates images--musical landscapes--and that you find yourself later humming the melodies and themes. My inspiration has been Bartok, Debussy, and "Weather Report."
